Cytology of the Malva and Althaea Alliances

The following list is a compilation of reported chromosome counts for the Malva and Althaea alliances, i.e. the genera Alcea, Althaea, Kitaibelia, Lavatera, Malope and Malva. It may well not be complete. (The bibliography at the end of this page give a number of publications which may contain additional counts.) Many counts are taken from secondary sources, as documented, the original works not being available to me. This may result in duplications, in that a citation in secondary source may be to another secondary source, rather than to a primary source.

Documents which I have checked are highlighted in red in the references.
